Is Garden Supplies Essential?

Posted on May 8, 2021

Garden supplies are indispensable to every gardener. Without them, gardening just couldn’t be very efficient. The list of garden supplies goes on – seed packs, fertilizers, planting containers, weeding tools, and so on. Some may argue that without these things, gardening could never be successful or profitable at all. But is this really the case?

While there are certainly many gardening supplies that would be absolutely necessary, the truth of the matter is that most people wouldn’t actually need any of them, for gardening purposes. Why? Well, the thing about gardening is that you do it a lot, and most people’s schedules simply don’t allow them to invest in a ton of different garden supplies.

So, what are some of the best things you can buy when it comes to gardening supplies? Well, there are a few, but they would be things like spades, hoes, rakes, shovels, etc. These items are generally needed in the beginning stages of garden-building. If you had them, you could spend more time on actually “gearing up” your garden instead of concentrating on more superficial things like getting good soil.

Now, what about tools that aren’t gardening tools? For example, if you have a shed or garage, you could use them as a place to keep gardening tools like forks, spades, hoes, etc. If you were starting from scratch, this may seem like a silly thing to do – after all, wouldn’t it be easier to just buy some tools and get going with your gardening? After all, it’s the simple things in life that are usually the most gratifying? But is this really the case?

The thing about garage space is that it can fill up fast – not just with gardening stuff, but also with other types of items. For instance, if you were to go to your local garden shop, you’d find that the gardening tools there are generally pretty expensive. And these, of course, don’t come cheap. If you were to go out and buy them from the local store, you would pay more for the same things. Couldn’t you see yourself buying a cheaper tool and saving a lot of money?

So, in a way, you could say that gardening tools are necessary. However, you might think that the more expensive tools and supplies you buy, the better off you’ll be. After all, wouldn’t you want to get the most value for your money, instead of paying more for a thing that won’t last a long time? If you were starting from scratch, then you would, of course, want to go out and get quality stuff. But many gardeners – especially those who’ve been gardeners for years and who don’t necessarily feel the need to get themselves better gardens – would still try to find cheaper garden supplies so that they can save money.

But is it wrong to look for cheaper garden supplies? Do you compromise on the quality of things just because you’re trying to cut corners? It seems like every time you turn around, you hear about another story about a person being severely injured or even killed while gardening. While most people know that gardening can be dangerous, some people still take the risk anyway. When you use cheap garden supplies and you use something that you shouldn’t, you risk hurting or even killing someone.

On the other hand, cutting corners when it comes to garden supply prices is also dangerous. If you know you have a garden supply on standby (such as a bucket), then you’re probably safe. But what happens if you forget it at home and you’re in an area where it’s forgotten? Even if it’s covered by a garden shed or something similar, it’s still a risky thing to do – after all, what if you need the bucket but it’s under construction?
